insists he will release another box set of my earlier music! Daniela Cascella persuaded me that it was something that should be done and gave me a lot of encouragement and support whilst I was putting it together. Mel Jefferson has been an immense help over many years, with all things practical, musical and technical, and without him I would never have had such a decent studio. Jonathan Coleclough has been designing release artwork for me as long as I care to remember. And I’m very happy that he has continued to do so, including this very item. Finally, I would like to thank all the people who have supported and/or encouraged me over the years. Because of you, I’m still at it & will continue to do so, until they take me away. These four cassettes were released in the period 1982–89. I think it’s acceptable to say that this is when I had realised I shouldn’t attempt to write ‘songs’, keep my mouth firmly closed and never ‘sing’ in public again. There were many other changes during those years, technical and personal, which influenced the noise I was making. When I was re-mastering these tracks, some of which are over thirty years old, it was odd to think about how they were made, almost as if it was another person who had constructed them. Maybe it was. Still, enough of the guff.
